Academic achievement is an important part of CSN Wrestling. Team members understand that most of them will not be UFC stars, but their academic performance will provide them with many career opportunities. Team members must continue to make reasonable progress towards a degree and maintain a 2.0 GPA. We are currently seeking sponsors for a program that will provide tuition reimbursement for students that maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Athlete Employment
The NCWA allows half time students to compete on the team, providing them with the opportunity to work while maintaining their academic and training schedule. Work experience is another aspect of the CSN wrestling team's preparation for success. The Southern Nevada Wrestling Club is seeking partnerships with local businesses that can provide our wrestlers with employment that will have the flexibility to work around their practice, competition, and class schedules. According to a recent article in Forbes magazine by Steve Cooper, collegiate wrestlers are some of the hardest working and most dependable people an employer could ask for. CSN wrestliers would be a positive asset for any company.
Community Service
Community service plays an important role in creating a bond between the community and the team. Team members will help organize and assist with local charity events. Team members will also help coach and referee with local high school and youth wrestling programs as time allows.
CSN Wrestling needs your help!
Although CSN has sanctioned the wrestling club, the team is 100% self-funded through business partnerships and community fundraisers. The immediate needs are for uniforms and equipment, tournament entry fees, and team travel. As the only collegiate wrestling team in Nevada, travel is a necessity. The 2012-13 competition schedule takes the team out of state for nine events, plus the West Coast Regional Championships in California and the NCWA National Championships in Texas. The estimated cost of travel expenses and tournament entry fees is about $38,000.00. The total budget for the initial CSN Wrestling Club season is $50,000.00.
The CSN Wrestling Team is asking the Las Vegas community for its support in raising the funds necessary to get them through their initial season. Donations and sponsorships of any size are welcome, and they are tax deductible. Individuals or businesses that donate $100.00 or more will receive a CSN Wrestling shirt. Checks should be made out to Southern Nevada Wrestling Club. If a cash donation is not possible, please consider donating anything of value that can be used for our Silent Auction or Raffle. Gift certificates, service vouchers, merchandise, show tickets, memorabilia, and other valuable items are all tax deductible at their face value. All donations will be acknowledged on our Facebook page, College of Southern Nevada Wrestling, and on our website, www.CSNWrestling.com.
